Rural Fires
Civil Defence and Rural Fires seeks to minimise or manage risks to the community from a wide range of hazards and the use of fire as a land management tool.
This is achieved through activities such as:
- Emergency planning with a wide range of community agencies
- Training emergency management personnel
- Public education on emergency preparedness
- Providing facilities and equipment for emergency response
- Co-ordinating the response to and recovery from emergency events
- Regulating and education on the safe use of outdoor burning
- Responding to wildfires in rural areas
Rural Fire Plan 2009/10 (PDF, 782kb, open in new window) - This Rural Fire Plan is prepared and approved by the Dunedin City Council to comply with the Forest and Rural Fire regulations 2005.
