Current Road Conditions (Refresh)
Ice / Snow Procedures
Dunedin's winter often means our streets become slippery and hazardous. The Council contractors monitor road conditions each night during our winter months, if ice is imminent they will apply grit to alleviate the slip hazard on our major roads and bus routes.
We have also been trialling the use of a chemical de-icing agent, Calcium Magnesium Acetate (CMA) on selected roads in the city.
During a heavy snow event our contractor will monitor conditions and assist traffic. Clearing will begin after snow has stopped falling and the Council will prioritise this work.
