Rugby World Cup 2011
It's less than two years away and the city of Dunedin is gearing up for the biggest celebration New Zealand has ever seen - Rugby World Cup 2011.
Rugby World Cup 2011 will be held across New Zealand over a six-week period in September and October 2011. 20 countries will participate in the 48-game Tournament. Held every 4 years, Rugby World Cup is the third-biggest sporting event in the world.
The Tournament has an estimated television audience of more than four billion people and we expect at least 66,000 international visitors to come to New Zealand for the event. This is based largely on the Australian experience in 2003, which is a more appropriate comparison for New Zealand than France 2007.
Dunedin will host three matches during the Tournament and we look forward to being a part of the Stadium of four million.
We want to make sure that visitors and locals alike have the best experience during Rugby World Cup 2011.
