Crematorium - General information

All cremations must comply with the Cremation Regulations 1973 and any amendments of those regulations.

We need to have your application and all necessary certificates before we can carry out the cremation.

How to book

You can book a cremation by contacting us directly. We will discuss all the requirements, both yours and ours, with you.

If a cremation is to take place on a Saturday, it should be booked in by 9.00am on the Friday before.

We accept bookings for cremations between:

  • 8.00am - 4.00pm Monday - Friday
  • 8.00am - 1.00pm on Saturdays

We do not do cremations on public holidays except when Boxing Day and 2 January fall on a Sunday. In this case, cremations can take place on the Tuesday of the actual holiday, between 9.00am and 1.00pm.

Crematorium Chapel Use

The Chapel at the Crematorium is available for all forms of funeral service or ceremony, and you may appoint anyone to officiate at the ceremony.

Services are generally in one of two forms, either a Committal Service or a Full Funeral Service. In either instance the chapel can only be booked hourly:

  • Monday - Friday between 9.30 - 3.30
  • Saturday between 9.30 - 12.30

The Chapel can be booked for 4.30 during the week but Saturday fees will apply.

If your booking is not cancelled with at least two hours notice, the Chapel hire fee will still be charged.
