About the Mall
The Space
The Wall Street complex comprises three buildings linked together at its heart - a large central atrium allowing natural light to filter through, which resembles an open palazzo. This architectural design links Dunedin streets and neighbouring malls, allowing shoppers to shelter from Dunedin's sometimes variable weather. This open glass, steel and stone space creates the ultimate atmosphere for shopping, dining, and socialising.
Wall Street adds vibrancy to an already thriving shopping precinct. Walk from one end of town to the next, under cover. Start at Wall Street on St Andrew Street and finish at the Meridian on Hanover Street and take in over 90 speciality shops, cafes, and food courts.
The Experience
Dunedin has always strived for better, unique, special. Wall Street brings you boutique shopping with internationally loved brands in an elegant, enclosed and gracious space. The best worldwide brands that recognise that Dunedin locals see themselves as part of the world.
Wall Street is another great reason why you don't have to leave the place you love to find the things you want.
The Causeway
A unique feature of the Wall Street complex is the underground causeway in the atrium which was unearthed during construction and is believed to be one of Dunedin's "oldest streets".
The causeway was an extraordinary find, consisting of numerous manuka logs forming a road which is thought to have dated from possibly the 1850s. The Dunedin City Council has set a glass display pit in the floor of the atrium which will eventually house some of the original structure. While the original logs undergo a lengthy preservation process, a photo replica of the real thing takes its place for shopper's to enjoy.
