Biodiversity Fund - Calling for applications
We established the Dunedin Biodiversity Fund in August 2007. The purpose of this fund is to maintain a network of viable habitats and ecosystems in Dunedin by encouraging and supporting landowners who are committed to protecting, enhancing and managing indigenous biodiversity.
April 2009 funding round
The fund is now open for applications. The April funding round has $30,000 available for allocation in the form of grants on a cost-sharing basis (50% landowner 50% Council). The maximum grant is $5,000 per project. The fund is contestable and each application will be assessed on its merits on a case-by-case basis.
Applications for funding will close 5pm on Friday 1 May 2009.
Applications that meet the criteria will be considered and funding allocated by the Hearings Committee at a public meeting in May 2009. Priority will be given to projects on sites identified as Areas of Significant Conservation Value in Schedule 25.4 of the Dunedin City District Plan. Successful applications will be announced in June 2009.
