Moana Pool Reception Upgrade Planned

Moana Pool has more than 650,000 visitors each year to its first class pool and gym facilities, and now the reception area, swim shop and computer systems are due for a makeover to bring them up to the same high standard.

Amalgamated Builders Ltd will begin work on the renovations on Monday 10 August. For the next four months there may be some disruption to visitor access but staff will be working hard to ensure customers are not overly inconvenienced.

The new computer system, which will streamline the booking system for classes as well as processing membership and swim shop sales, has been successfully used in many similar complexes around Europe and Australia.

The planned improvements include:

  • A two-desk, gated, access for reception. One for casual entries and one for membership and concessions, swim shop sales and any overflow of casual entries
  • A self-swipe gate for customers with membership cards and some types of concession cards
  • A new software package that will incorporate bookings, point of sale and the swim school
  • Swipe card access for members using the gym to improve security
  • Speedo concept swim shop

It is expected that the project will be completed by December 2009 with the new computer system going "live" on 1 December, 2009.

The approved budget for the project is $300,000.
