Ferntree Reserve tree removal
Later this month, we will be removing a row of Macrocarpa trees growing near the Dean Street entrance to Ferntree Reserve.
The trees, some of which are over 100 years old and over-mature, are showing signs of a disease called Seiridium canker, which will eventually kill them. Some large branches have already been shed, a health and safety concern for the properties along the tree line as well as the public using the reserve.
Replacement trees will be planted during the next planting season from June. Native trees appropriate for the area have been chosen to provide a safer public space and to enhance the native bush and encourage birdlife.
All affected parties have been advised and there have been no concerns voiced with regard to this project. Work will begin on 23 February, by Tree Man.
