International Conference for Dunedin

The Dunedin organisers of an international conference are casting the net wide in their search for challenging contributions to their three day gathering in the city.

The DCC is working in partnership with the University of Otago School of Business to stage "International Organisational Performance: Performance Measurement Theory and Practice."

In a world increasingly focussed on the delivery of quality, cost-effective, customer-centric products and services against a growing climate of economic instability, the tracking of progress against organisational goals, and the identification of opportunities for improvement has assumed even greater importance.

How do you measure organisational progress? How do you judge employee performance in contribution to this? Who does this evaluation? Are bosses exempt from performance review? How do you assess the performance of a crematorium in comparison to that of a library or sewage treatment plant - or the performance of a Civil Defence team in the absence of a disaster?

"We're looking for speakers with practical experience who will challenge conference attendees to identify meaningful and robust solutions" says the DCC's Business Performance Analyst and one of the conference co-ordinators, Joanne Greatbanks.

"We've already got an eclectic mix of contributions lined up but this is one of those occasions when there's no such thing as too much information and we're keen to hear from any practitioners who might be willing to talk about case studies that will enlighten us all."

The conference is due to run 14 - 17 April 2009. Details of the topics and a tentative timetable are available at: www.pma.otago.ac.nz
