Council To Review Parking Complaints
Following expressions of concern regarding the implementation of the DCC's new Parking Strategy the Parking Strategy Working Party - Crs Guest, Brown, Noone and Bezett - will meet this Wednesday to review messages from Dunedin residents logged by councillors and DCC staff.
The Working Party will have the authority to change decisions made during the introduction of a new parking regime for the inner-city.
However, Cr Michael Guest, who will chair the group warns: "Nobody should think we are going back on the strategy but some unforeseen consequences of its implementation deserve reconsideration."
Mr Guest continued: "I would expect some correction of anomalies but that will be done on a case-by-case basis in order that the overall balance and intent of the strategy is not upset."
An informal meeting of councillors was today advised that DCC staff would continue to monitor the effect of the new parking changes but that it would take some time before reliable data of parking patterns became apparent.
