Representation Review

On 22 June 2009 the Dunedin City Council reviewed its representation arrangements for the Council and its community boards for the elections to be held on 9 October 2010.

It is proposed that the Council comprise 14 Councillors elected from three wards, and the Mayor. 11 Councillors will be elected from a new Central Ward (combining the current Cargill, Green Island-Saddle Hill, Hills and South Dunedin Wards) with two Councillors to be elected from the Mosgiel-Taieri Ward and one from the Waikouaiti Coast-Chalmers Ward.

No changes have been suggested to the numbers of community boards or their membership, although changes to the boundaries of the Mosgiel Taieri and Saddle Hill Community Boards are proposed, and it is also proposed that the subdivision of the Mosgiel Taieri Community Board for electoral purposes should be discontinued.

Copies of the Council's resolution and maps setting out the areas of the proposed wards, communities and subdivisions may be viewed and obtained from the Council's service centres and libraries.

Relevant information is also available on the consultation page on this website.
