Hundreds enjoy Mayor's Breakfast

In an hour and a half, 300 eggs, 20 loaves of bread, 10kg of Quick Cook porridge, 25kgs of sausages, 20kgs of bacon, 18kgs of spaghetti, 18kgs of baked beans, 18kgs of fruit salad and 10kg of hash browns were almost all cooked, plated up and eaten at the Mayor's Breakfast.

Deputy mayor Syd Brown, councillors Dave Cull, Bill Acklin, Andrew Noone and Colin Weatherall and a few early-rising council staff arrived at the Octagon at 6.30am on Friday and were ready to start serving at 7am.

The Mayor's Breakfast raised this year $1292.20 for the city's foodbanks.

Many thanks to Countdown, Tip Top Bread, Harraways, Jons Retail Meats, Havoc Prime Pork Products, Watties, Hirequip Dunedin, Event Production Company, Peter and Ashley from Leviathan Hotel and the Octagon Market who donated food and equipment for the breakfast.
