Community funding seminar well received

The community funding seminar held on Tuesday, 3 March was very well received by the 35 attendees.

The seminar is held by the DCC every March to give community groups an opportunity to learn about the plethora of funding available to them, as well as how best to present their application.

This time around, the DCC, Ministry of Social Development, Department of Internal Affairs and Sport Otago were discussing the more than 15 pools of money accessible to not-for-profit organisations for sports, arts, recreation, and social projects. There was also a representative from the Inland Revenue Department available to explain teh ramifications of funding on tax matters. Community Advisor, Paul Coffey, said "In all, there was over $6 million sitting in the room".

Carol Melville from the Otago Community Trust highlighted ten tips for good funding applications.

The DCC is currently taking applications for community grants funding. The closing date is Friday, 27 March, so get your application in now to avoid missing out as we are unable to accept late applications.
