Southern Sinfonia performance for Heritage Festival

The biennial Heritage Festival is taking place over Anniversary Weekend, from Friday 20 March until Monday 23 March. This year the Festival is celebrating Dunedin's extensive arts and literature heritage and some of the people who have helped make our city great.

Events range from a cooking workshop through stories and sand castles on the beach to a Southern Sinfonia performance celebrating the life, times and works of artist Frances Hodgkins. The inspiration she has provided for the Southern Sinfonia has created a truly vibrant performance especially for the Festival.

The concert includes the world premiere of a new work by Dunedin composer Anthony Ritchie (Mozart Fellow 1988-89), a dramatic presentation by Rima Te Wiata of Frances Hodgkins' life, with a script penned by Catherine Chidgey (Robert Burns Fellow 2005-2006), and Deborah Wai Kapohe and the City of Dunedin Choir performing arias and choruses from New Zealand, England and France, countries where Frances Hodgkins lived and worked.

Tickets are available now so don't miss out! You can book through TicketDirect at the Regent Theatre.
