Calling for nominations for community awards
The TrustPower Community Awards, with Dunedin City Council, are on again and two nominations had already been received only a couple of weeks after nominations opened on 6 April.
Any volunteer group or volunteer-based, not-for-profit organisation can be nominated and they are judged on their activities during the past year.
A new category this year is child and youth. The other categories are heritage and environment, health and wellbeing, arts and culture, sports and leisure and education. The winner of each category receives $500 and runners-up $250. The supreme winner receives $1500 and is entered in the national awards.
Nominations close on 12 June and last year 54 nominations were received. Application forms can be picked up from the DCC Customer Services Agency, at Community and Recreation Services reception on the sixth floor of the Civic Centre or on the TrustPower website www.trustpower.co.nz
