Council On The Move
The DCC has announced plans for the temporary relocation of two of its critical community assets.
The Community Gallery in Princes Street will move its activities to a property at 300 Moray Place, between Dick Smith's and the TAB, an area with considerable foot traffic and easy access to parking.
The first day of operation from these premises will be 1 October.
That move will enable the iSite Visitor Centre in the upper Octagon to take up temporary residence in the Princes Street premises vacated by the Community Gallery. They will be operational from that site on Monday 12 October.
Both moves are necessary to allow the redevelopment of the Municipal Chambers complex which is scheduled to start in February 2010 with a completion date of September 2010 and which forms part of the larger Town Hall upgrade.
Kate Styles, DCC General Manager Strategy and Development, says of the moves: "This is a good solution to a knotty problem that required some give and take from all parties.I'm grateful that, in the interests of progress, we have reached an agreeable solution with all those involved."
