Building Consent Authority
We must provide Building Consent Authority services within our district and in any coastal marine areas adjacent to our district that are not in the district of another Territorial Authority.

Building Warrant of Fitness (BWOF)
A Building Warrant of Fitness is similar way to your car's twice-yearly WOF. It ensures that your building is being maintained in accordance with the Compliance Schedule and is still fit for the purpose for which it is used.
Certificate Of Acceptance (COA)
A Certificate of Acceptance allows for certification of work that has been carried out urgently or where there has not been time to apply for and obtain a building consent for unforeseen reasons.
You must apply for a Certificate of Acceptance in writing.

Certificate For Public Use
A Certificate for Public Use provides assurance that buildings are safe for the public to enter and use, when a building consent has been granted but no code compliance certificate has been issued yet.

Code Compliance Certificate (CCC)
Your Code Compliance Certificate confirms that you have completed all work and met all the criteria of your building consent.
Compliance Schedules
A Compliance Schedule is a schedule of specified systems that are included in a building to contribute to the proper functioning of the building. The specified systems are listed in Schedule 1, Building Regulations 2005 89 kb (new window).
Determinations
A determination is a process that can be used when you can't agree with us about building work, to help you solve the problem.

A LIM is a report that includes information we hold about a specific property and any issues that may affect it. This information may be vital before you finalise your property purchase.
