Dunedin's economic future
The Dunedin City Council has a proactive approach to economic development and there are strategies and plans in place to facilitate consistent growth for our city.
Dunedin Economic Development Strategy
The current Wealthy Community vision within the Long Term Council Community Plan (LTCCP) is:
"A city that encourages strong local business and employment growth, and attracts increasing numbers of new businesses and tourists."
A 10-year Economic Development Strategy was developed in 2000, and updated in 2006. The strategy proposes that the vision will be best achieved if efforts are focussed on helping Dunedin to be a prosperous city that values its heritage, creativity, knowledge and environment, and profits from these strengths.

Visitor Strategy
The Visitor strategy was produced after public and industry consultation, including 50 written submissions.
The primary goal that the Visitor Strategy sets out to achieve is:
"To increase the contribution of the visitor industry to Dunedin's Gross Domestic Product and in doing so, the overall wellbeing of Dunedin residents."
