Community funding and DCC grants

We recognise the important contribution made by community organisations to the overall health and wellbeing of our city and its residents.

To help organisations that are benefiting the wider community, we make funds available twice a year through the Community Grants Scheme. This is for groups providing activities and facilities for the well being of community.

The deadlines for all schemes are the last working Fridays in March and September.

It is a good idea to talk to us before you lodge your application. We will be able to help you decide which part of your project is eligible for funding.

Who can apply to the Community Grants Scheme

It is preferable that the organisations are incorporated societies or trusts but informal organisations may apply. It is aimed at non-profit organisations that serve the social, educational, cultural and environmental wellbeing and development of the community, including:

  • Self help
  • Support
  • Neighbourhood
  • Ethnic
  • Environmental
  • Social service
  • Youth
  • Senior citizen

How much are the grants?

Most grants are between $500 and $2,000, although occasionally larger grants are made. As we are a complementary rather than a primary funder, priority is given to organisations that have sought other sources of funding first. Only one application for one project per year will be accepted.
