Online resources and directories

  • The Yellow Pages (new window) are an online and print directory of local businesses and services. They are organised by region - if you need a service or business in Dunedin you can find one. Most local businesses will be listed in the yellow pages. A print version of the pages is found in the back of the telephone directory.
  • Trademe (new window) is the most popular website in New Zealand. It is a great place to buy and sell new or second hand goods. It is an online community where members receive public feedback whenever they trade. Trademe also offers a Safetrader service (new window) where buyers money is not released until goods have been received in the agreed condition.

Information centres

  • Dunedin Citizens Advice Bureau (new window), an independent organisation offering advice, information, advocacy and support. Ph 471 6166, or email cab.dunedin@xtra.co.nz.
  • The Dunedin City Council Customer Services Agency can assist with information on community resources such as libraries and pools and services such as sewerage, water and rubbish, prperty assistance, planning and building consents. Ph 477 4000.

Legal advice

Free legal advice can be obtained at the Dunedin Community Law Centre, 52 Filleul St, Ph 474-1922.

Budget advice

Budget advice is available from the Dunedin Budget Advisory Service, Ph 471-6158.

Libraries

The Dunedin Public Libraries, Ph 477-4000, offers free access to the internet (assisted or non-assisted) as well as much more information that could be of assistance.

Justices of the Peace

Justices of the Peace (JPs), for witnessing legal documents or copies of documents, are listed under Justices of the Peace in the Yellow Pages of your telephone book or are avaiable at the Dunedin District Court between 9.00am - 5pm Monday - Friday.
