Customer charter for the City Planning Resource Consent Team

Who are our customers?

Our customers can be identified as:

  • Applicants for resource consents and other approvals.
  • The community as a whole because of our regulatory responsibility for managing the implementation of the District Plan.

Aim of charter

The aim of this charter is to provide an understanding of the level of service you may expect from the resource consent team. Our primary roles and commitments are to ensure:

  • People making public enquiries have their questions answered promptly.
  • Applications for resource consent and other approval will be processed professionally and within statutory timeframes.
  • Resource consents are monitored for compliance.
  • Resource management complaints are investigated and resolved as promptly as possible.

Although we will try our utmost to provide a prompt service and meet statutory timeframes, we recognise that we may not always be able to meet customer expectations, but will keep our customers informed of progress.

The Resource Consent team

The service provided by the resource consent team is primarily about playing a key role in achieving the objectives and policies of the District Plan, and the objectives of Long Term Council Community Plan. The District Plan and resource consents enable the sustainable use of the natural and physical resources of the City. We are responsible for administering the resource consent process and ensuring development occurs in an approved way.  At the heart of our work is a focus on customer service.
