Driveways and vehicle crossings
Driveways are important to both the homeowner and footpath users. They need to be built and maintained properly.
New vehicle crossings
If you are building a new vehicle access and footpath, or extending your vehicle crossing, you need to talk to us.
We have standard specifications and specific instructions for the construction of vehicle crossings. To ensure these are met, work must be done by a DCC approved contractor.
We deal with each crossing and footpath request on a case-by-case basis, as each situation is unique. It is a good idea to discuss your project with the Roading Asset Supervisor before beginning work.
Existing vehicle crossings
If you think there is something wrong with your vehicle crossing, please contact us or submit a Fix it.
This could include:
- The concrete section is in poor condition
- The crossing is blocked or dirty
- Your vehicle scraping on the ground.
If your vehicle is modified or low riding, please read the following:
DCC Policy Statement - Vehicle Crossings 4b - "where it can be established that damage has occurred through misuse by the owner or occupier of the premises being serviced the Council shall recover the cost of any maintenance works from the said owner/occupier."
