Day One

  • Take a stroll down the main street of Dunedin. There are cafes, shops, historic buildings and art galleries galore. You can while away a whole day, just in the city centre. Pause for lunch and then continue your inspection of local designers including Nom d', Anna S, Carlson and Halo, while making your way to Knox Church, just one of the city's cathedrals.
  • After the cathedral, take a guided tour with one of Dunedin's own historians. Link to Walking Tour booking form.

Day Two

  • On Baldwin Street, test your fitness by walking to the top where you will have a magnificent view of part of the Town Belt.
  • From here, you can walk to the Botanic Garden. Lunch can be picked up on the way or eat at the Croque-o-dile Cafe. After replenishing your energy levels, take a stroll around this world-renowned Garden, including the aviary at the top.
  • From the top of the Garden, you can walk down Lovelock Avenue to the Northern Cemetery, and return to town via the Otago University, New Zealand's first university.

Day Three (half-day)

  • The Bethunes Gully track will take you through native and exotic forest to the top of Mt Cargill for fantastic views of the city.

Day Four

  • After visiting the Royal Albatross colony at Taiaroa Heads, head up Allans Beach Road to walk to the summit of Mt Charles, the top of the Otago Peninsula.
