Length of cycleways
This indicator measures a city that delivers a transport system that is integrated with the wider needs of the community.
Vision
A city with a transport system that supports economic development and where people move about easily and safely.
How are we doing?
The total length of cycleways is split into off-road cycleways (including designated cycle lanes and shared cycle/walkways) and on-road cycleways.
Dunedin has almost 29km of cycleways across the city. The provision of on-road cycleways has increased steadily and there has been a small increase in off-road cycleways from 5km in 2001 to 6.3km in 2007.
