How are we doing?
A deprivation index is a reflection of how well households can achieve positive outcomes in areas such as health, income, education and employment. The deprivation index ranges from 1 least deprived to 10 most deprived.
This indicator measures the percentage of the population in deciles 8, 9, and 10. In 2001 28% of the population were in deciles 8, 9 and 10 of the deprivation index. In 2006 this was 26%.
