Councillor Michael Guest - Cargill Ward
Michael is into his fifth term as a Councillor. His first three terms were between 1977 and 1986. Michael was born and educated in Dunedin and has a wide range of experience and interests.
He was a lawyer for many years and will likely re-enter the profession but puts Council duties first
He was Deputy Chairman of the Roper Committee on Violence and was a District Court and Family Court Judge for 2 years between 1987 - 1989
Michael was a founding member of Ecology Action Otago (Inc). In the past Michael has been a Board member for both the Fortune Theatre Trust and the Otago Museum Board. He has interests in acting, music, reading, writing, and humour. Michael's wife, Barbie, is Head of Special Needs at Kaikorai Valley College. They have four children.
