Election signage

There are 2 pieces of legislation that cover election signage. They are:

  • The District Plan
  • Electoral (Advertisements of a Specified Kind) Regulations 2005

The District Plan describes the rules around signs on public or private property. If your sign does not comply with the restrictions, you will need to apply for resource consent.

The Electoral Regulations are focused on the content of the sign and how long it can be up.
