About this track

An undeveloped trail that starts at a private fence at the end of Pipikaretu Road. The trail follows a farm track for 1km until you reach a gated intersection and a private property sign. Cross the fence and travel through a small gully before cutting across farmland up to the marker at the top of Quoin Cliff. The trail ends abruptly at the cliff edge. From the top of Quoin Cliff there are fantastic views of the Otago Peninsula with Okia and Sandymount to the south as well as Ryan's Beach and the remnants of the ship the Hananaui II on the beach. Quite a steep climb but short and sharp with beautiful views.

Getting there

From Dunedin, drive down Portobello Road and take a right up Pipikaretu Road and continue down until you reach an intersection with native bush and a farm gate on the right hand side and a private road sign on the left. Park as far off the road as possible.
