About this track
One of the most impressive tracks on the peninsula with spectacular views from the Chasm and Lovers Leap. The start of the track takes you through a beautiful mature macrocarpa stand and onto open farmland with windswept tussock. As you navigate your way around Sandymount, views of Hoopers Inlet, Allens Beach and the Peninsula provide great photo opportunities. From Lover's Leap, the track changes from open tussock land to native scrub with a wonderful diversity of native flora, particularly divaricate shrubs. As you ascend to the top of Sandymount, the track is lined by flax, which continues as you walk back down to the carpark.
Turn off Highcliff Road onto Sandymount Road. The track begins at the carpark/ picnic area at the end of the road.
