Through consultation over the past few years, it is clear that a community hub is a top priority for South Dunedin.
In the past you've told us that key elements you would like to see in a community hub include things like a library, internet access, youth hub, public toilets, bike library, community meeting room, DCC service centre and a community hot desk.
We've listened to what you've told us and have investigated potential locations that could best cater for these priorities. We think we've come up with a concept that will work really well, but we need more time to find a permanent site, finalise plans and develop the facility. The information about the process to date can be found in the related information section.
In September 2016 it was decided to open a temporary facility which would operate while a permanent solution is developed. This temporary facility known as the community pop-up would provide some of the key services previously suggested by public feedback and would provide a means of gathering further feedback from the community.
We envisage that the community will continue to grow the hub over time based on their own needs and aspirations.
It is intended that the Pop-Up facility will remain in place for about two years during the development of the permanent hub.
