Key findings from the survey include:
- 65% of respondents have heard of the Warm Dunedin scheme.
- 53% of respondents who do not consider their houses well heated and/or insulated say that if the Warm Dunedin scheme continues they will consider using it.
- 69% of the respondents strongly agree or agree that the Council has a role in providing assistance to homeowners and landlords to upgrade insulation and/or heating in their homes through a rates advance.
- While, in general, respondents are supportive of the Warm Dunedin scheme, there is a group of panellists who do not consider that this is an appropriate Council activity.
The purpose of this People’s Panel survey was to gauge people’s opinions regarding targeted rates schemes such as Warm Dunedin, and to determine whether there is general support should the scheme continue. Results of this survey will be reported to Council in May 2014 as part of the evaluation of Warm Dunedin.
