Application description

The proposal is for demolition of buildings comprising the former Cadbury factory. This application relates to those buildings where the facades to Cumberland and Castle Street are listed as a Heritage item in the District Plan (B030; Cadbury Confectionary Limited Buildings). Except for the Dairy and Machine House building located at the southern end of the site on Castle Street, all the buildings are to be demolished.

Consent is also sought for demolition activity to breach rules in the District Plan for construction noise and vibration. The demolition work is intended to enable the construction of new buildings that will form part of the proposed Dunedin Hospital.

Note: The location and design of the hospital buildings is not the subject of this application. The application includes an assessment of environmental effects.
