Terms & Conditions
- Offers open to tertiary students studying in Dunedin during 2019.
- Offers may only be purchased at Moana Pool reception during normal business hours.
- Student memberships are for a period of nine (9) months from the date of purchase.
- A valid 2019 tertiary student identification card must be presented at the time of claiming offers.
- All membership fees stated include GST.
- Additional fees do apply to Student Gym/Swim members wanting to take part in Spinning & Aqua Fitness classes. These fees are per class and must be booked and paid for at Moana Pool reception.
- Offer commences start of business Monday 11th February 2019 and ends close of business Saturday 31st March 2019.
Moana Pool Gym is set-up to provide people with the opportunity to perform an exciting and effective exercise workout. With a wide range of cardio and strength based equipment, plus space for stretching/core work and functional exercises. Moana Gym has your exercise and fitness needs covered.
Moana Pool Gym provides qualified Gym Instructors on the gym floor ready to assist you, and to ensure you are getting the most from your workout. They are here to help you and provide options for effective exercise modes and movements, so feel free to ask them for assistance at anytime.
Machine Weights / Stretch & Core Area
Machine weights are a great place to begin when starting out resistance training. Our machine weights area includes machines that target the upper and lower body muscle groups, and allows you to work through resisted movements in a controlled and safe manner.
Across from the machine weights is a free space where you can perform your stretching, rehab or core specific strength exercises. We have floor mats, medicine balls, Swiss balls, resistance bands and foam rollers to assist you in making the most of your workout.
Whether you are looking to warm-up or perform a cardio based session, the cardio equipment at Moana Pool Gym has the bases covered. Treadmills, cross trainers, rowers, upright bikes, recumbent bikes, stair-mills, Air-bike, Air-Runner and spinning bikes make up the cardio equipment. Perfect for performing low or high intensity exercise, or interval training.
Olympic benches, Smith Machine, Leg Press, Squat Rack, Adjustable Cable machines, hammer rack with Olympic floor & bumper weights, medicine & slam balls, plyo/jump boxes, dumbbells (1kg – 47.5kg) make up our range of free weight equipment allowing you to individualise your workout.
Functional training (performing weighted or non-weighted movements that strengthen and mobilise the body to improve everyday activities) is something that can benefit all. Moana Pool Gym has a great area where you can move in space and perform movements or series of movements to target serval muscle groups and energy systems at the same time. With rubber flooring and access to accessories, this is the perfect spot to get creative with your workout.

Our personal trainers provide one on one exercise / training services to ensure you are on the right track to achieving your fitness goals. Personal Trainers can assist with exercise related goal setting, progress measurements, and exercise programming that is specific to you and your needs.

The Spinning programme is the original group indoor cycling class in the world… With no complicated movements to learn, motivating instructors and music that helps you push through, Spinning classes are as fun as they are effective and satisfying.
Spinning classes involve variations of interval and sustained cycling efforts, and use changes in resistance and intensity to work your muscular and circulatory systems for great health and fitness results.
Spinning classes are 45mins or 60mins in length. You are always in control of the resistance level of the spin bike and as a result of your own intensity. A 12 or 30 multi-visit membership can be purchased, or classes can be attended on a causal basis. You can book and pay at Moana Pool reception on the day.
Spinning + Strength
The session begins with a 45min Spinning class followed by 20mins of body weight functional training. This portion of the class uses body weight exercises to strengthen the upper and lower body in a functional manner. A session that helps to increase overall strength and conditioning.
