Dunedin Botanic Garden Plan review

We are reviewing and updating the Botanic Garden Plan to consider the future direction of the garden over the next 20 to 30 years. The draft plan is expected to be presented to the Dunedin City Council by the end of 2021 before going out for consultation when the community can make a submission on it.

    We have sought contributions from staff and targeted stakeholders and community groups to get a better understanding of how they interact with the Botanic Garden.

    It has helped us to consider what elements and priorities the Botanic Garden should focus on over the next 20 – 30 years.

    The draft Botanic Garden Plan.

    2007

  • Why does it need to be reviewed?

    The previous plan is now out of date. For a garden of such national significance, we need to ensure that the future direction the Botanic  Garden remains relevant and meets community needs.

  • Will the aviary be included in the review?

    Yes, we will be looking at all areas of the garden.
