Rebecca Shepherd (Chair)

Balancing a busy family life, I've taken a break from my career as an equine veterinarian to dedicate more time to my family, while also using this period to contribute to our local community. I have always approached decisions with an evidence-based mindset and rely on expert guidance when needed—a habit shaped by my veterinary background that will be valuable in my new position as chair of the Mosgiel-Taieri Community Board.

I enjoy meeting people and hearing their perspectives, and I am committed to identifying opportunities for our region and developing practical solutions to community challenges over the next three years.

Since my husband and I moved to Mosgiel in 2017, we have come to believe it is an ideal place for our family. Our two children attend primary school here, and I spend much of my time shuttling them to sports and after-school activities. We really enjoy the close-knit atmosphere of the area.

My personal interests are mostly centred on spending time with family, whether it's camping, boating, or skiing but I will also jump at any opportunity to join friends for activities and adventures, especially when it involves horses and the high country.
