Volunteer in Dunedin

Volunteer  Programmes:

The DCC is working together with some of our key partners to develop some great new parks and recreation volunteering opportunities.  Check out the current programmes below:

Trail  Crew

Do you like hitting the trails and exploring Dunedin?  Why not be part of the team that helps ensure those places stay awesome.   Get stuck in alongside Department of Conservation (DOC) rangers and DCC staff to help maintain and improve tracks that are considered high priority by DOC  and the Dunedin City Council.

Trail Crew are looking for people to fill a variety of roles, including crew leaders, story tellers and crew members.  There are more adventures and ground to cover than you can shake a stick at.  You could be trimming trail edges with clippers or a scrub bar, digging water tables to harness  nature's raw power, leading your mates in the backcountry or telling the stories of our unique places.

So, if you like the idea of a volunteering experience that allows you to explore new places, learn new skills, meet new people then register to become a Trail Crew member!

Dunedin’s War on Weeds Programme

Part of what makes Dunedin a special place is the unique flora and fauna that is found here, but there are some troublesome plants out there that want to threaten their survival. We need your help to keep these pesky plants at bay to allow Dunedin’s habitat and its inhabitants to flourish.

Dunedin War on Weeds will be one wild adventure alongside DOC and other community conservation groups that will target some pretty special locations in Dunedin. If you're keen to keep Dunedin safe from troublesome pest plants, create new native habitat, make some new friends and travel to some amazing places then register your expression of interest!

We are keen to get as many people involved as possible. We want to make sure we provide you with the best experience! So register your interest and let us know how you want to be involved.
