Marjorie and I have 3 grown up children. Two sons and one daughter. Eldest son is in Wanaka and second son is in Brisbane and daughter is in Mt Isa.

Marjorie was brought up in Patearoa and Omakau. I was brought up in Tapanui.

Parents sold the farm in Tapanui and moved to Mosgiel many years ago.

Played rugby for Taieri and was captain of the Senior Team at the age of 19. Represented Otago Colts. Played senior rugby in Wellington. Refereed rugby and reached Provincial Status whilst in Blenheim and Christchurch. Played senior cricket for Taieri, Cromwell, Methven and Christchurch.

Worked for the BNZ for over 30 years in many parts of New Zealand. Reached Regional Manager status. Took up the CEO Position for Canterbury Federated Farmers. Resigned from the Federated Farmers and moved to Australia with my family where we bought Management Rights on the Sunshine Coast.

Retired to Sunshine Coast moved back to Mosgiel 2018. National president for Retirement Villages Residents Association of NZ Inc.

My considerations and thoughts for the Taieri

  • Silverstream Beautification Project. Silverstream banks need to be beautified.
  • Railway crossing and traffic lights at Gordon Road/Gladstone Road/Quarry Road needs to be addressed.
  • Repairs and maintenance of the footpaths on Gordon Road and Factory Road are a major problem.
  • Flooding on Gordon Road is a major issue.
  • Presentation of Outram Glen is another issue to be addressed.
  • Preservation of Saddle Hill. The quarrying of the Saddle is a concern for the community.
  • Wingatui/Factory Road roundabout needs a complete review.
  • Cycle trails to be developed further and more quickly.
