We offer a range of funding opportunities for businesses, community groups and events organisers. Each relevant department has staff available to talk to you to ensure your application is of the highest possible standard. You can find contact details in each section.

Arts grants

The Arts Grants funded and administered by DCC support projects which contribute to the strategic themes of Ara Toi Ōtepoti – Our Creative Future: Dunedin's Arts and Culture Strategy (Ara Toi).

Biodiversity funding

The funding rounds are publicly advertised at the start of April and September

City service and city project grants

These grants support key organisations and projects to help the city achieve its strategic goals and ultimately ensure Dunedin is one of the world's great small cities.

Community funding and grants

This funding for groups providing activities and facilities for the well being of community.

Creative Communities funding

Funding is available twice a year. The closing dates for the Creative Communities Scheme (CCS) are the last working Friday in  March for projects starting after 1 June, and the last working  Friday in September for projects starting after 1 December.

Electricity fund

The fund is to help people living within the DCC rateable area with a grant towards an electricity account.

Events funding

This fund supports events which are of primary benefit to Dunedin residents.

Heritage Fund

The Dunedin City Council and Heritage New Zealand jointly administer the Dunedin Heritage Fund to support the continued use of the city's key heritage places.

Landfill grants

DCC reimbursement grant of up to $400 to assist with landfill use charges at DCC landfill sites only.

Neighbourhood matching grant

Neighbourhood Matching Grant is available for activities and projects that seek to bring the community together.

Rates relief

This grant scheme is for not-for-profit groups that serve the social, educational, recreational, cultural and environmental wellbeing and development of the community.

Place-based Community grants fund

This new fund was created as part of the DCC’s 2018-28 10 year plan. It will support place-based community development work.

Small project grants

This scheme is for projects under $500.
