Travelling safely in cars with children

Under New Zealand law, all children under seven years of age must use an approved child restraint (a baby capsule or a car seat) appropriate for their age and size while in a car/vehicle. Children aged seven must be secured in a restraint if one is available in the vehicle.

You can watch some helpful videos about how to install appropriate child restraints (link to external website, new window).

To find a child restraint technician who can help install your children’s car seat/s safely, visit the New Zealand Transport Agency website (link to external website, new window).
