If you’re interested in cycling in Dunedin but want more skills, confidence and experience, we encourage you to:
- Ask your school about cycle skills training. Many Dunedin schools receive cycle skills training through the DCC Cycle Skills Training Program or NZ Police Community Safety Officers
- Join a club:

- Familiarise yourself with this NZTA - guide to basic cycling skills page (link to external website, new window) then practice riding on quiet streets.
If you need a bike or other equipment, you could:
- support one of Dunedin’s bike shops.
- learn about bike repairs or refurbishment at a DIY bike workshop:
- the Crooked Spoke (link to external website, new window).
- Valley CYCLE workshop, 11 Allen Street, North East Valley. Open hours are Tuesday 3.30pm to 5.30pm or Saturday 9.30am to 12.30pm.
Aotearoa Bike Challenge
The Aotearoa Bike Challenge is a fun, free competition that’s all about seeing which workplaces can get the most people to ride a bike for just 10 minutes or more.
