Profile

Mickey Treadwell is a life-long Dunedinite who spent his childhood in North East Valley, his teenage years in Port Chalmers, and who has recently settled in Kaikorai Valley.

He began his professional career in natural history film and television before re-training in computer science and moving into the video game sector.

He is the co-director of an independent game studio based in south Dunedin and, prior to being elected to council, worked as a lecturer in game design at Otago Polytechnic.

A keen environmentalist, Mickey spends most weekends in the city’s tracks, parks, pools, and playgrounds with his young family. He is also a keen fan of the Phoenix Thunder and Dunedin Thunder Women’s ice hockey teams, a cyclist, and a recovering ska musician.

As a councillor, Mickey intends to advocate for environmental protection, improve youth engagement and representation, and work towards housing solutions for all in the city.
