We strongly recommend you submit your application earlier and that, if you have not received a grant before, you talk with a Community Advisor. Community Advisors, Ph 03 477 4000.
Who can apply to the Community Grants Scheme
Grants are provided to assist non-profit organisations that serve the social, educational, cultural and environmental well-being and development of the community. In particular, the DCC is interested in supporting programmes which aim to empower and support people to live better lives. This can include groups working with children and young people, older people, whānau, hapori Māori, ethnic communities, disadvantaged groups, disabled people, people with mental health or addiction.
How much are the grants?
Grants allocated are less than $5,000 per applicant. Most are between $500 and $3,000 dependent on the number of applications received. As we are a complementary rather than a primary funder, priority is given to organisations that have sought other sources of funding first. Only one application for one project per year will be accepted.
Small project Scheme
This scheme is for projects under $500. All applications for a Small Project should be made on the application form. Note that you only apply to either the main Community Grants Scheme or Small Project Scheme in any one year.
