I’m also a trustee of both the Dunedin Wildlife Hospital and Predator Free Dunedin which speaks to my resolve around protecting our unique wildlife and natural environment—taonga to us all.

I’m married to Professor Liana Machado who works at the university of Otago researching and teaching neuropsychology and cognitive psychology.

I’m a keen cyclist, hiker, and traveller. I generally cycle about 6000kms per year, met my wife while on the way to hike to K2 Basecamp in Pakistan, and to date have travelled to 107 countries - told you I was passionate about these things!

My focus remains on making sure Ōtepoti / Dunedin remains one of the most attractive places on the planet to live, work and play.
