Swimming pools

The Dunedin City Council's Aquatic Services provide a range of community pools including Moana Pool, St Clair Pool and Port Chalmers Pool along with a multitude of fitness facilities, lots of training courses and heaps of entertainment for children.

The Water Slides at Moana Pool will be temporarily closed for refurbishment works from June until early Dec  2025.

The water slides at Moana Pool are now closed for refurbishment works and will not be opening as per normal for Friday evenings and weekends, or during the next two sets of school holidays.

Moana Pool

Moana Pool has a range of swimming areas, a multitude of fitness facilities, lots of training courses and heaps of entertainment for children. This page lists the features of the various pools and slides in the Moana Pool facility.

Te Puna o Whakaehu

Te Puna o Whakaehu complex, Mosgiel, has a leisure pool for recreational play for children, a dedicated learners’ pool, mainly used for swimming lessons, and a 25m pool with eight lanes for swimming.

Port Chalmers Pool

The pool was opened in 1961 and was roofed and reopened in 1982. This work was made possible through community and local funding.

St Clair Hot Salt Water Pool

St Clair Pool is an outdoor hot salt water pool built on a beautiful site at the southern end of St Clair beach. It is the only surviving salt water pool of several in Dunedin from the late 1800s.

Our pool rules are designed for the safety and well being of ALL our customers, those that break these rules will be disciplined in accordance with our disciplinary procedures.
