The Council creates bylaws in response to the needs and concerns of our city's residents. They are reviewed regularly.
- 05. Dog Control Bylaw
This bylaw covers all aspects of dog control in the City including registration fees, prohibited places for dogs, control of dogs and exercise areas for dogs.
- 06. Solid Waste Bylaw
The purpose of this Bylaw is to regulate the collection and disposal of solid waste in Dunedin City.
- 08. Mobile Trading and Temporary Stall Bylaw 2014
The bylaw is to ensure that the public trading activities in Dunedin City make public places more safe, lively and attractive without inhibiting the safety and efficiency of pedestrian movement.
- 10. Reserves and Beaches Bylaw
The purpose of this Bylaw is to provide for public safety and the management and control of reserves and beaches vested in, administered by or under the control of the Dunedin City Council.
- 11. Roading Bylaw
This bylaw applies to footpaths and roads in Dunedin City.
- 12. Water Bylaw
This Water Bylaw has been prepared using New Zealand Standard 9201 Model Bylaws which covers various matters under local authority jurisdiction.
- 13. Traffic and Parking Bylaw
This bylaw sets out standards and guidelines for parking and traffic related matters in Dunedin City.
- 14. Trade Waste Bylaw
This Bylaw regulates the discharge of Trade Waste to a Sewerage System operated by the Dunedin City Council.
- 15. Food Grading Bylaw
The purpose of this bylaw is to require all Food Businesses registered with Dunedin City Council to display a food hygiene Grading certificate in a place visible to the public.
- 17.Beauty Therapists', Tattooists' and Skin Piercers' Bylaw
The purpose of this bylaw is to prevent the transference of communicable diseases such as Hepatitis B and C, HIV/AIDS and bacterial skin infections via beautician practices, tattooing and skin piercing.
- 18. Alcohol (Control of Alcohol in Public Places) Bylaw
This bylaw explains the rules controlling liquor in public places. Reviewed and Amended in December 2016.
- 19. Restriction of Traffic on part of Halfway Bush Road and Friends Hill Road
To prevent damage to the access track that links the maintained formations of Halfway Bush Road and Friends Hill Road in order to protect the water main under the track.
- 20. Speed Limits Bylaw
The purpose of this bylaw is to set speed limits as specified in the schedules.
- 21. Restriction of Traffic Bylaw
The purpose of this bylaw is to prevent damage to the surface of unformed legal roads.
- 22. Keeping of Animals (Excluding Dogs) and Birds Bylaw
To protect the public from nuisance and to protect, promote and maintain public health and safety by controlling the keeping of animals and birds within the residential district. This Bylaw does not apply to dogs.
- 23. Camping Control Bylaw
The purpose of this bylaw is to protect, promote, and maintain public health and safety by regulating freedom camping within the district; and restrict freedom camping in public places within the district.
