Short-term and temporary parking permits

Short-term or temporary parking permits are available for goods/services vehicles and not-for-profit organisations and/or groups where you may need to park in metered or time-restricted parking spaces for longer than the specified time.

Short-term Parking Permit

The Short-term Parking Permit is available to service providers (builders, scaffolders, electricians etc.) for a minimum of half a day and a maximum of up to one month. Half day permits are half the price of full day permits.

Eligibility for the Short-term Parking Permit

This permit is only suitable for individuals using a goods/services vehicle.

Conditions of the Short-term Parking Permit

  1. Permits may only be used in the places and at the times stated on the permit.
  2. Permits only apply to the vehicle designated on the permit.
  3. Permits are not transferable.
  4. The Dunedin City Council (DCC) reserves the right to cancel any permit at any time.

How to apply for this permit

To apply for this permit, contact DCC Customer Services on 03 477 4000 or visit us on the ground floor of the Civic Centre, 50 The Octagon, Dunedin.

For periods longer than one month, a written application may be required.

After you have submitted your application

DCC staff will assess the application and if you are eligible, issue the permit on the spot.

Display the permit on the vehicle’s dashboard, visible from the outside of the vehicle. The permit is invalid if not displayed correctly.

Follow all parking regulations and bylaws.

We reserve the right to cancel your permit at any time if you fail to comply with the conditions of use.

Temporary Parking Permit

These permits are issued on a case-by-case basis for temporary use by not-for-profit organisations and groups. They are not available to individuals.

How to apply

All applications must be made in writing, and include the organisation’s letterhead (if available), at least two weeks prior to the date the permit is required.

After you have submitted your application

DCC staff will assess your application. If you are eligible, a permit will be issued.

Display the permit on the vehicle’s dashboard, visible from the outside of the vehicle. The permit is invalid if not displayed correctly.

Follow all parking regulations and bylaws.

We reserve the right to cancel your permit if you fail to comply with the conditions of use.
