St Clair Hot Salt Water Pool

St Clair Pool is an outdoor hot salt water pool built on a beautiful site at the southern end of St Clair beach. It is the only surviving salt water pool of several in Dunedin from the late 1800s.

Its wonderful location on the beachfront makes it a highly pleasurable swimming experience. It is particularly suitable for those who love swimming in salt water, but may not wish to venture into the brisk ocean water. The pool is heated to 28 degrees Celsius and is a mixture of salt and chlorinated water.

The pool was upgraded in 2000/2001 and now features a paddling pool for toddlers, new changing facilities, a disabled change area and an office building providing shelter from the weather. A cafe operates year round at the facility. It is open from 7.30am-4pm daily.

Identification and concession rate

If you have a current Community Services card, Tertiary Student ID, the Hāpai Access Card or a current Super Gold card you are entitled to the concession rate. The card must be shown at reception in order to get the discounted rate.

If you need a person in the pool with you because of a disability, entry for the support person is free (the swimmer pays their usual rate).

* Child - A child is anyone who has not left secondary school.

**Family - Family is either 2 adults and 2 children or 1 adult and 4 children.

***Preschooler - Additional preschooler using toddler time.
