About the Festival

Puaka Matariki is a time for remembrance, reflection, celebration, and looking to the future. Unique to our region, the festival acknowledges both Puaka and Matariki as markers of the Māori New Year.

The festival brings together community groups, schools, artists, cultural organisations, libraries, museums, marae, and venues across Ōtepoti to celebrate this special time of year.
