Dunedin City Council – Kaunihera-a-rohe o Otepoti

If your project could impact on the environment, or could affect other people, you may require resource consent.

We have statutory resource management functions and responsibilities under the Resource Management Act 1991 and are tasked with promoting sustainable management of both the natural and built environment through a range of tools, including land use planning.

You are welcome to discuss your proposal with us. We will be able to tell you whether or not your proposal will require resource consent. We also suggest you have a pre-application consultation to help you prepare your application.

The Activity Report (PDF, 217 KB, new window) details the work undertaken by the Resource Consents Team and the Applications received and processed for the month.

The Resource Consent team

The service provided by the resource consent team is primarily about playing a key role in achieving the objectives and policies of the District Plan, and the objectives of Long Term Council Community Plan. The District Plan and resource consents enable the sustainable use of the natural and physical resources of the City. We are responsible for administering the resource consent process and ensuring development occurs in an approved way. At the heart of our work is a focus on customer service.

Contacting a planner

We provide a planning advisory service from Monday - Friday from 8.30am to 5pm at our City Planning Enquiries Desk, Customer Service Centre on the Ground Floor, Civic Centre, 50 The Octagon. Alternatively, contact us via email on planning@dcc.govt.nz, or telephone on +64 3 477 4000.
