Mountain Biking Trails Dunedin’s premier downhill and all-mountain destination – with over 29 km of trails for every level of rider.

About this track

Signal Hill Recreation Reserve is home to more than 20 mountain biking and walking tracks. From gentle climbs to expert downhill runs, this network is the beating heart of Dunedin’s riding scene.

The Big Easy offers a wide, gentle gradient suitable for cyclists and pedestrians heading uphill, with the Easy Down providing a Grade 3 route back down. For those after a challenge, the 4WD Track, Zig-Zag Track, and Telecom Track offer steeper climbs suited to walkers, runners, and electric mountain bikes.

The Water Pipe Track crosses the reserve from the Ravensbourne Track to the reservoir, following a buried pipeline. Water Tank Road and Centre Road offer alternative access routes to the upper network.

With over 29 km of connected trails, Signal Hill is well-known for its downhill runs, hosting multiple competitive events each year and drawing riders from across New Zealand.
